Year 11 Prom 2015

As always, the annual occurrence of the Year 11 leaver’s prom was truly spectacular!

After a difficult year of hard work and the stress of exams, the year 11 students are rewarded with a truly fantastic prom held at the school. The majority of schools tend to have their proms at an off-site location, Icknield however, is very different. It has always been tradition to have the leaver’s prom at the school in the school’s assembly hall. The transformation from school assembly hall to prom ballroom is astounding. Every year the event seems to get better and better and this year was no exception. The school don’t call in any specialists, this is all the hard work and effort of the staff at school and our way of rewarding and thanking the students for their hard work and commitment over their 5 years at Icknield. A special mention should go to three key staff that design, organise and create this unbelievable transformation, Mrs Nicholson, Mrs Beckett and Mrs Aujla-Bhungal, both the staff and students are truly grateful.

Prom Dancefloor

Like any party, it can only be as good as the people that attend. This year’s Year 11 were a fantastic year group and they celebrated in style. The evening was a huge success and all (including staff) had a wonderful evening. Whether it was dancing, riding the dodgems, eating from the BBQ or just mingling with friends, it was clear that everyone had an enjoyable evening. As you can see from the images, the students all look fantastic in some of the most amazing prom dresses, tuxedos and hair styles showing that this year group do have some style.

Arriving in style

There was of course the usual tradition of trying to win the prize for the best entrance award, we were treated to an amazing array of sports cars and limousines coming up the drive but to arrive in a tank! Was truly a first and a very worthy winner.

I would just like to thank all those involved in making this such a wonderful evening and a truly fitting way to end the Yellow Tie’s 5 years at Icknield, I’m already looking forward to next years.
