BBC School Report 2018

Welcome, from our student news team. Our reporters will be reporting on the latest at Icknield High School and our Community. Make sure you check out our page on the day around 15:00pm, to find out about the news, local and international issues led and managed by the students.

BBC News School Report gives 11 to 16-year-old students in the UK the chance to make their own news reports for a real audience. At Icknield High School, we have been working with a group of year 8 and 7 students, encouraging them to make news reports for submission to the BBC so that we can take part in this national initiative to involve young people in journalism.

We have looked at materials from the website as well newspapers, magazines and the surrounding world. With support from the BBC, we have helped students develop their journalistic skills to become Icknield High School’s Reporters. This has been beneficial to their English studies as the project means students are involved in researching, planning, drafting, editing and presenting – all important skills. The team have found the task challenging due to time pressures and technical demands – as you would expect – but they persevered and developed very interesting news items, browse our page to be enlightened.
