Clothes Show 2016

On Tuesday 6th December, fifty one Year 9 and 10 Textile students visited ‘Clothes Show 2016’ at the NEC in Birmingham. The event offered a unique opportunity for students to find out more about the ever-expanding range of creative roles within the fashion industry and the further education and courses available to develop their textiles and design future.

The students had the chance to watch a number of inspiring Graduate catwalk shows as well as experience the ultimate catwalk production in a 45 minute theatre show. This Year’s Alcatel Fashion Theatre, named ‘Rock The Runway’, brought together fashion and music with a cast of over 40 models. The visual extravaganza was inspiring to watch with hectic scenes and trend presentations from high street favourites. There were a number of familiar faces present, including ITV’s fashion presenter Mark Heyes.

Following the trip, two Year 10 students share their thoughts on the day; Kelly said; ‘‘It was the best show I have ever attended, with brilliant models and an amazing atmosphere. The trip was inspiring and ideal for textile students or anyone contemplating a career in fashion and design’’.

Marylynn said; “The clothes show was a really inspiring and vibrant experience with weird but wonderful clothes modelled, it has given me lots of inspiration for my own work. I would describe the trip as eccentric, exciting and just brilliant”.
