Budding Artists visit Brighton

On Friday 10th June, twenty two of our year 10 Art students travelled to Brighton for a day of art and culture. The trip which included a visit to Brighton University allowed the students to visit the Graduate Show and view the wide range of talent on display. The faculty which nurtures excellence in the visual arts provided students with an understanding of the how the subject could be studied at a higher level following their time at Icknield. Throughout the day, our budding artists were able to make their own observations from the street art around them as well as putting their photography skills to the test on the seafront.

Lucy said; “The trip was a fantastic opportunity to see urban art up close, showing us how it was made and the different textures used. It was such an artistic community, a perfect place for a university visit. The trip has definitely helped me with my coursework and taught me more about street art”.

Habiba also felt inspired by the trip and said; “I think this trip was very eye-opening as it displayed different forms of art which will help me when it comes to my final piece. We got to see how art has had an impact on the community and the tourism it generates. I thoroughly enjoyed it”.

The trip was an extremely valuable experience for all those involved. The sketches and Photographs taken by the students throughout the day will support their GCSE Coursework projects.
